Flying Turns
Will the Flying Turns coaster ever open at Knoebels Park? Will they finally get that train figured out? Does the apocalypse seem more certain to happen in 2012 than the ride open this year? I'm sure the wood doesn't have that new look to it anymore.

Re: Flying Turns
Well every year Kenobles seems to make more progress with the difficult Coaster. I know they released a POV and started testing last year. Maybe 2012 or 2013 will be the big year and it will open up!
Re: Flying Turns
Knoebels is hopeful for this year. It takes alot of work to get these right especially because it's a one of kind. The original is gone so they're going off of a coaster that left us years ago.

Re: Flying Turns
Last I heard was they had a worker from GCI working on Flying Turns. So they're probably making good progress. I think 2012 might be the year!
Re: Flying Turns
That would be awesome if this year, without a doubt, would be the year that we finally see this ride open. It's been sitting there since 2006.

Re: Flying Turns
I see this ride isn't listed on the 2012 ride list or price list of 2012, hm.

Re: Flying Turns
That's interesting, could that mean it won't be opening this season?
I thought someone from GCI came in and was helping them work on it. So maybe they decided to cancel the project?

Re: Flying Turns
Still if GCI came in to work on it, that doesn't mean it would open right away. If they are projecting an opening this year, it could be in the middle of the season for all I know. Look at Black Diamond, that didn't even open until October.

Re: Flying Turns
If flying Turns opens in 2012 I. Think it will be very late in the season (like Black Diamond) or in 2013. Well they are and always will find more problems with it.
Re: Flying Turns
Well if GCI is now involved, there is a possibilty that 2012 "could" be the season, although like you mentioned, it could be later in the season. Wouldn't even surprise me if they open it up around the time they opened up Black Diamond this past year.

Re: Flying Turns
I don't think GCI themselves are involved. I heard that Mike Boodley is involved, but he no longer works for GCI. He has become more of a freelancer, and provides consulting work. He still provides consulting work to GCI, but is no longer on their staff.

Oh I never knew that. What happened that he left the company?

Re: Flying Turns
Here's an article in Funworld Mag, August 2006 issue. Mike "retired" from GCI back in 2000.
