Skyscreamer 2012 new flat(s)
Skyscreamer is coming to Six Flags Great Adventure in 2012! Finally a new flat ride! A new swing to replace our removed swings! I'm glad the park started to listen to fans and patrons. Flats for the older members of the family and teens were lacking since we lost the original swings, Freefall, Spinmeister over the years. A scrambler will return in place of our beloved Centrifuge which is still at SFOG. The model to come is rumored to be from the closed American Adventures Park in Georgia. Bumper cars are to return too. I hope those don't look too trashy. I'll be glad if the huge plot of concrete that was home to Evolution in Fantasy Forrest gets reused.
I popped the SFGADV thread cherry, posting about my homepark.

I am also glad Skyscreamer and more flat rides are coming to Great Adventure. They are in desperate need of some!
I wish they got a Drop Tower also soon. They are in need of one too.

Re: Skyscreamer 2012 new flat(s)
I agree that a drop tower is sorely missing from the SFGA line-up. Maybe if SFMM is successful with theirs, we could see one in 2013.

That section of Fantasy Forest with the Skyscreamer, bumper cars, scrambler, and Dumbo like elephant ride from the Golden Kingdom will be renamed Adventure Alley. The other half of Fantasy Forest going towards the carousel and tea cups will remain.

I agree with you about GAdv needing more flats. What they're doing this year is a great start, now if they would keep this focus in the next year or two, without putting in another major coaster, I think they could raise themselves into having an impressive overall ride lineup and give me a reason to go back again.

Re: Skyscreamer 2012 new flat(s)
I would always love another Coaster in Great Adventure, but they really need more thrill/ flat rides. GA is one of my favorite/home park, but its JUST Coasters, and they really need to add in more rides.
Another thing Great Adventure should do is stop taking down rides. Whenever they want to put up a new attraction or Coaster they always remove another one. I know they decided to do this because a lot of there Coasters (Viper, GASM, and Chiller) 'needed to be taken down'. Hopefully they will STOP doing this...

Re: Skyscreamer 2012 new flat(s)
And Screamscape just reported the new area with the flat rides! It will be called Adventure Alley!
Re: Skyscreamer 2012 new flat(s)
I was able to beat Screamscape to the chase. The fan sites to SFGADV got to the info from the park.
The old management wanted to get rid of the old flats that were discontinued/old/for which it was hard to get parts. I think the prices were just right for scraping the metal and bringing it to the junk yard the last few years. I've seen a few factories being demoed the last few years, heard about the theft of copper and other metals for scrap.
The park in this rethemed land has a mix of new flat rides as well as relocated rides from within the park and from other parks in the chain. In the future I would like a drop tower first, then a modern water ride, perhaps a dark ride. The chain is about 2 years out from their bankruptcy declaration. Given their financial situation, price of metal it's safe they're spending some, not too much and also reusing the assets they already have as much as possible. The chain has been able to squeeze out a few wild mouse coasters, some small steel coasters like the Intamin ball, some new wooden coasters which cost less than the steel ones, and a risky renovation of the Texas Giant that turned out to be a success. Buying the new X-Flight steel coaster from B&M is a promising sign from the Six Flags chain.

Re: Skyscreamer 2012 new flat(s)
I also forgot to express my opinion of the new area...I think it's a great step in the right direction. It also appears that they are re-opening an area that was closed off the last season or two am I correct? There are many more opportunities for them to install new flats over the course of the next year or so and I really hope they think in that direction.

Re: Skyscreamer 2012 new flat(s)
I believed some of the movietown section of the park closed after 2007 season when The Chiller closed. And I don't think that threy are reopening that section of the park this year with the new rides. I believe Skyscreamer and the flat rides will be right next to movietown and aroung the large Ferris Wheel.
And at ACE Riding of the Bull in September at SFGA I talked to one of the GM and he stated that they are planing to reopen that section of the park, just not in 2012. So hopefully we will get some more flat and thrill rides in movietown in 2013.

Re: Skyscreamer 2012 new flat(s)
The area was not closed. It was a walkthrough area that had a lot of concrete exposed to the patrons because the rides from the early 2000 War on Lines were removed. The Flying Waves swings then got removed around 2008.
This section near the Skyway and Big Wheel used to also have
Pirate Flight which went to SFWOA and was retained by CF when the park returned to the name Geauga Lake.
The huge Evolution flat which got reprogrammed and sent to SFStL.
Chaos was removed like at many other parks.
This was an open section of Fantasy Forest to walk through. To simply put if you walked from the main fountain to the right past Big Wheel to the left towards Skull Mountain you would be walking through this section that is getting flats again.

I was referring to their former "Old Country" section, sorry for the confusion there.

Re: Skyscreamer 2012 new flat(s)
Over the weekend I heard Deja Vu is coming to SFGADV. AWESOME. LOL I know the twist. Actually we'll be going round and round. I remember a few years ago a hat shop on Main Street actually had the Deja Vu hats for the SFGAM coaster. I hope we can keep the logo and use a sign from one of those 3 old coasters.

This will be one of the tallest SkyScreamers of any SF park (that has them of course!), and it shall stand 240 ft. tall!

I hope SF inc. is saving the 385 foot Wiener Prater sized version for SFMM
Praterturm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UATJDA35wXk This would be like swinging around the SFMM Skytower

I would totally ride that! It would be scary, but wouldn't have to ask me twice to get on for a spin!
Re: Skyscreamer 2012 new flat(s)
I'd ride it as well! Time to put my trust on the chains!

The ride looks great in person. Rainbow colors, higher than NITRO. It was two red beacon lights on top.

You have to copy the code and paste it into the forum. You may have copied the link thinking that you've done the previous.

Re: Skyscreamer 2012 new flat(s)
Here's another video of Praterturm the 385 foot Star Flyer, heres some on and off rides shots. I just can't get over how insane this thing looks, and the night time light package also looks pretty stunning Imo. Since SF seams to be installing these things left and right I can only hope that SFMM is on the list to receive one and hopefully it's this monster here!!!

Would be a welcome addition to SFMM no doubt. That looks about as tall as the Windseekers at the Cedar Fair parks.
