Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
I think it's going to be a fun little ride. No doubt. The inside part looks to be quite thrilling IMO.
Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
I wish they didn't remove BBW cause I thought that ride was the best of it's class. That last hill was very thrilling. I think Verbolten will be better than Cheetah Hunt, but still more of a family friendly coaster than world class thrill ride. With that said, it's the perfect addition to the park given their other coasters imho.

Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
I had the opportunity to ride Big Bad Wolf in the summer of 2005 and I do agree that it was the best of its class. I liked it better than Flight Deck at Kings Island and how it really used the terrain to its fullest.
I'm wondering if we'll be able to compare Verbolten more towards the Backlot Stunt Coasters at the Cedar Fair parks.

Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
^ I rode Big Bad Wolf in August 2009 and it was a great ride and its sad that they removed it from the park. R.I.P.
Verbolten looks like it will be a great ride. The only thing that worries me is the manufacturer - Zierer. Just because they are not that big of a company, working mostly on smaller family coasters (except Wicked), and this one of there largest projects. But so far the ride is looking Great! And hopefully it will make Zierer more well known as a Company.

Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
I completely agree Zierer is the wild card with Verbolten, but given how well received Wicked was, I think it will be a great addition to BGW. Hope so anyway and can't wait for more updates.

BGW has just released a new teaser video for Verbolten, and I have to say it is VERY impressive. Clearly this ride should be very heavily themed. Check the video out and leave your thoughts

I heard that this coaster is suppose to launch up to 70 miles per hour. They said its going to be a one of a kind for Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

70 MPH??
WOW- If that is true, then this isn't the family coaster we're expecting.
But TBH I don't think it will go that fast. But, I don' think BGW did ever release an actual speed, did they?

From what I've been seeing, reading and hearing, it really looks like it will be a fun ride. Even though I'm saddened with the loss of the Wolf, at least this might make up for some of it.

I'm with ya, BBW was a really fun ride and I always found that last hill pretty intense. Verbolten will be fun no doubt, just bummed they couldn't keep BBW.

Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
I think they released the max speed of about 53 mph. , not 70.
And im going on a School Band Trip to VA on there first operating weekend (last weekend in March). Do you think Verbolten will be open by then?

Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
I'm not sure, does BGW usually open their rides with the park, or later like HP does?
Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
Hhmm, i dont know there history with there latest Coasters, but I do know that Match Tower took FOREVER to open up. But At least they are done with the track, so that is a good sign...
Well when I go and its not open ill get some pics and post them up!

I don't think Griffon opened with the park from what I can remember. I thought that opened around Memorial Day weekend but I could be wrong.

Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
I watched a video about it earlier! im going there this year and im soooo excited! (: they said that you go into a building called the "black forrest" and you have 1.8 seconds of weightlessness as you go around the turn. there are two (2) launch zones... one at the beginning and one at the end before you go down the last hill... there is also a drop zone inside the black forrest that has only been featured on one other roller coaster i believe it was th13teen. but it should be pretty fun (: http://www.screamscape.com/html/busch_gardens_williamsburg.htm
scroll until you see the verbolten sign... this video explains it all

^May I ask how do you get 1.8 seconds of weightlessness going around a turn
I do like the look of those trains, and the covered bridge is looking great too.
I do have to ask will there be a small launch out of the station or will it just coast out and coast until it hits that launch into the show building?

Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
Even in the video he get's his facts wrong, that is not a turn when it launches into the show building. It's an airtime hill this is were the 1.8 seconds of airtime comes from. It's impossible to create airtime in a turn, a turn creates lateral forces not negative.
This pic shows that it's launched into a airtime hill taken from BGWFans.com

Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
Hey guys, I was at BGW this weekend and Verbolten looks GREAT in person. It is definately smaller than the other big Coasters, but it looks like it will be great for Coaster Fans and for little kids.
Here os a video I took on opening day 2012:

Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
Here is some Verbolten testing video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kBNQBxiIG4 that was posted to BGWfans. It doesn't say exactly when it was taken but I'm assuming this is after the supposed accident.
I'm not saying Verbolten didn't have an incident but I don't for one second believe it was as major as the rumor reports, especially the part of someone being ejected from a vehicle suffered major injuries yet no 911 no media was involved... yeah ok.

This is the first I'm hearing of any rumored accidents, any details on the rumor?
Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
You can read all the nonsense here http://bgwfans.com/?p=1825
Long story short they claim the yellow Verbolten train vallied they brought in a truck to pull the train up into the MCBR, the strap attached to the train tore and then some kind of way when the strap tore the train took off and it pulled the truck into the supports ejecting the person in the truck leaving them with severe injuries and damaging the train and supports.

Re: Verbolten - official discussion topic
Well there were testing videos released on youtube today so apparently it wasn't that bad. The yellow train was in a maintenance bay and wasn't testing according to someone from bgwfans. Hopefully if something did happen, no one got hurt.

Testing is going well, while BGW expects the ride to open the public on May 19. The video from the park shows the themeing, queue, and special effects including the train dropping. It does look like a fun ride

The park is really doing a great job of revitalizing that area, similar to what HP did with The Hollow. The ride also looks great!
