Knotts next coaster ?
The rumors have been swirling around the net for close to a year that Knotts next coaster will be a giga. While I'd prefer an Intamin, I think it's possible Knotts could be getting a B&M giga now that CW is getting one. They certainly need a world class ride to compete with SFMM and Lex Luthor and a giga makes sense. Did CF enter into a 3 coaster deal with B&M?

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
That would be awesome but where would they put it? I think they're also having landlocked issues similar to Hershey. I guess if they could build it out across the road and around their parking lot, then it could happen.

There have been multiple drawings on the net showing how it could fit within their existing space. When you look at places like Blackpool, where there is a will, there is a way.

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
On the decision for Knott's 'Mega' or 'Giga' Coaster being either B&M or Intamin it depends on a few things... Most importantly I think it has to do a lot with how Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland turns out to be. If it turns out to be a big success Knott's next coaster will most likely be B&M. But if Knott's is planing to go with a non-launched coaster larger than Millennium Force <3 I think it will be Intamin.
Re: Knotts next coaster ?
I agree, they need to wait and see how popular Leviathan is.LFCoasterZombie wrote:On the decision for Knott's 'Mega' or 'Giga' Coaster being either B&M or Intamin it depends on a few things... Re: Knotts next coaster ?
I believe given the length of time it takes to design a giga, I believe that decision has already been made. Let's be honest, Leviathan is going to be a HUGE hit with the GP and suspect given the latest pics, will be very well received by coaster enthusiast too

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
Well I'm hearing that Knotts maybe making an announcement sometime in 2012 stating 2012 is Perilous Plunge last season. The removal will make way for the installation of a B&M Hypercoaster not giga for 2013. Also the Giga is rumored to be going into SFMM in log jammers old spot for 2013, if either of these rumors hold water looks like the west coast will finally be getting a B&M hyper and an Intamin giga. Hopefully some solid info will come out at the up coming West Coast Bash!

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
Hey guys new to the forums so putting my input on so far my favorite thread!
The coaster that comes to Knott's I bet will not be a launch coaster. They already have Xcelerator, and this coaster needs a big lift hill and the coaster would most likely mainly hover over the park. Since Leviathan is B&M, I'm just guessing Cedar Fair would use them instead of Intamin.
The Perilous Plunge removal is new to my ears. I imagine that ride is some maintenance to keep up and a requires a ridiculous amount of water. Considering they already have two other water rides, this is a definite possibility for removal. I've only been on this once the various times I've been to Knott's because it just gets you ridiculously wet and isn't fun to me at all, so I wouldn't miss it!

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
Welcome to the thread and forum, while this is my favorite topic as well. This is the first I've heard of Perilous Plunge's removal and am a bit surprised since it's only 12 years old. Looking at the way Hershey has installed Skyrush, I've never considered a ride removal since where there is a will, there is a way to make it fit. I'm also surprised you think Knotts will get a hyper, and not a giga, since SFMM has a large hyper already, and would need a giga to get "noticed". Technically, Knotss already has a hyper with Xcelerator too. I think what's clear is that big rides are coming to both parks very soon, and can't wait to see how it all develops. THANK YOU very much for the pictures and updates from the West Coast!
I still think giga for knotts and wing-rider for SFMM

To be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing Perilous Plunge getting removed, that baby costs a TON to manage, and on most days, only ONE BOAT wil be running... that's a no-no for me... the queue can get ridiculous at times as well... If it ever does get removed, a nice coaster can replace it!

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
I would prefer a coaster like Leviathan, and Leviathan is a giga! (Please correct me if I'm wrong!)
I real like the train design on Leviathan, over Goliath's trains. However if giga's like Bizarro are better in someway, I would take those too. But to clear things up a coaster identical to Goliath (as in track and cars) is NOT what I want, and expect
As for SFMM, I would LOVE to see something like Maverick. SFMM already has enough looping coasters, Superman is it's only launch coaster and is over hyped, and I think they could definitely fit one in the LG space!

^ You're correct, don't worry! If the drop/height of the coaster is more than 300 ft. than it's a giga!

Lol once someone got confused when I told them that, but it says it right on the Intamin website: http://www.intaminworldwide.com/amusement/RollerCoasters/Giga+Coaster/tabid/138/ProductNumber/Giga+Coaster/language/en-US/Default.aspx

Hey I couldn't make WCB this year, does anyone know if Knott's hinted towards a new coaster at all?
Re: Knotts next coaster ?
You can watch the entire WCB questions and answers here.
Its very long and when asked, the staff wouldn't answer with any details. They wouldn't even share much about Haunt. ARG

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
I don't know what's going on with Knotts I haven't even heard anymore rumblings about Perilous Plunge being removed for that rumored big coaster.
Only thing I got out of the info that came out of WCB was about a new haunt maze and rumblings about a new dark ride to replace the old KOD. If there is any new coaster on the horizon they are really keeping it Top Secret.
I know I would love to see a B&M hyper at Knotts with that amazing looking turnaround Shambahala is sporting or of course something like Skyrush that would be my first choice.

Dark ride? Interesting...
From my main source that was telling me about WCB, it was all about Haunt for me too. It look like were gonna wait for the next WCB for any hints
So far, SFMM with probably win the coaster race, which would hurt Knott's a lot IMO

Well, I'm thinking the Intamin Giga will be the next coaster, or that's the coaster I wish is next.

Well since it seams like SFMM is going with yet another coaster the turns you upside down Knotts is our only hope of bringing some type of Airtime machine to the West Coast. Yet I'm not holding my breath any longer I've totally given up on the West Coast

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
I really don't think SFMM is actually getting this "Full Throttle"
but I could see them getting something similar.
If they do get this looping launch coaster, this would really be Knott's time to shine.!

I love the name, especially if the ride lives up to it. Full Throttle to me means major speed and intensity.

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
Full Throttle is a great name, but doesn't match the area at all. I mean the area it will be in is next to the Mooseburger Lodge from goodness sakes.
Getting back to Knott's, if MM does have this loop coaster, Knott's could make not only the only giga on the west coast, but possibly a world-class giga. It will have to be good to compete with Goliath

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
If Knotts were to get a Hyper or Giga all it would need is one ejector air hill and it would beat the crap out of Goliath, it wouldn't take much at all to beat Goliath a megalite would destroy it. It's also a shame that a little coaster like Manta looks like it will provide more airtime and thrills then a 255 foot hyper lol.

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
Lol it's surprising it's so "mediocre" and it was built the same time as MF. Yet it still is tied with X2 currently for my favorite coaster....
If it can be anything like Leviathan with a huge drop, airtime, and speed, it will easily be my favorite

If it's like Space Mountain that would be cool. But with Space Mountain down the street, they are missing the point here...
Re: Knotts next coaster ?
I actually don't mind them having a dark ride. It's nice to see these types of rides pop up in other parks that aren't Disney (RXCC at HP, Ghostwood Estate at KW and Boo Blasters at some of the CF parks). Hopefully they'll make the name better than Boo Blasters for this one.

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
Only dark ride I would like to see @Knotts is a dark ride coaster type of ride, like those popping up in parks lately like Verbolten, Thir13teen, Polar Express or what ever it's called going into Lego land. Imo a sally type dark ride at this point in time when you have rides like Transformers and Carsland close by just isn't going do it.

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
Hey guys did a trip on the 21st...... I couldn't snap any pictures from the lot they've been clearing, but I was disappointed by GhostRider and Perilous Plunge. GhostRider was so ridiculously bumpy.... I feel new trains would really help that coaster. Perilous Plunge wasn't even open the whole day, and I examined the size of it and could only think of how perfect a station for a giga would fit there lol
Re: Knotts next coaster ?
A Giga at Knotts would be like a Elephant on a wacky worm just ridiculous lol the clearing I never thought would add up to much anyways since it's right next to the Knotts Resort Hotel.
Hmm plunge closed is odd since it has just recently got a major rehab, I'm dreaming but wouldn't that be nice if this was a sign of plunge leaving and a Westcoast Skyrush taking it's place
Ghostrider is a lost cause IMO it needs the Ntag treatment or at least a complete GCII Re-track with Mflyer trains.

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
I think Knotts needs to introduce a coaster or refurb GhostRider. But they may be waiting a year or two since Wind Seeker is under a year old. If I say giga, I mean hyper too, lol my bad. Hersheypark did a great job of fitting Skyrush in, I believe Knott's could do it too
Re: Knotts next coaster ?
I could see Knott's getting a hyper before a giga. They just would have more room to fit something of that height into the park's landscape.

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
Yeah I mean I would love a giga, but could we just say Knott's needs a mega coaster? So it accounts for giga and hyper. Hyper is more reasonable but giga would be a huge step for Knotts and the first on the west coast, making Knott's a much bigger destination.
Re: Knotts next coaster ?
Sorry to put your hopes down Knott's Network, but KBF is going back to the family plan so I don't think we will see a Coaster higher than 150 ft. anytime soon... Agreeing with HPCrazy, there's a higher chance that a hyper/mega coaster would come earlier than a giga....

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
I did believe Screamscape wold be getting a Giga when he first reported it back in June 2011... But there is now little buzz of it happening... And if they get a big coaster, construction should start soon...
Re: Knotts next coaster ?
You're not dampening, like I said, I want giga but hyper makes since. Rumor of giga was around so it's not an impossible dream. The rumor of the dark ride I just hope isn't true because that would be kind of silly. It's true they are thinking of family because my last trip they showed litter care in GhostRider or Silver Bullet...

Re: Knotts next coaster ?
More then likely it's An AP Event or Season Pass Holder Appreciation Day, far as Knotts going back to family that makes no sense since they never left that market in the first place. Knotts has always had a balance of family and thrill and I'm sure they will continue that trend. Just b/c they didn't install a rumored Giga doesn't mean that Knotts will focus on family only, if that's the case they wouldn't had installed a 300 foot Windseeker.
When Knotts is ready for a new coaster they will get one!!!

I agree Tom and I hoping the reason the SP holders are involved is b/c Knotts is going to give the SP Holders a date for a last ride on Perlious Plunge and announce that's it's coming out to make way for something new and exciting for 2013 like that Hyper, Giga, megalite what ever it turns out to be lol.

I don't think Knotts will remove PP for the new ride, and think/hope they work around it. In that market you need a good water ride (granted it's had it's share of problems - arg).
