Rumor: 2013/2014 Giga Drop

Six Flags Great Adventure is planing a new worldrecord attraction.

Its planned a Giga Drop Tower.

2013/2014 - Giga Drop - Rumor - (2/27/12) Rumor has it that Six Flags Great Adventure has a new world record ride plan in the works that may shock you. If they go ahead with it, look for it to come in either 2013 or 2014, and will involve somehow mounting a Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom style ride system to the 456 foot tall Kingda Ka tower structure. Looks like poor SFMM wont have the drop tower record for very long.

I guess will have to wait and see but I find this rumor completely ludicrous, seams to me it would be much easier to just build a stand alone drop ride instead of trying to add it to KK. Also you see how far KK TopHat is from the rest of the park and KK launch area is off limits to the public b/c of the accident.

I doubt this will happen... The G-Force is too powerful and guests may pass out if this ride were to happen! And why would SF give SFMM the record for the tallest drop tower ride, only to find out another SF park will hold the same record the following year?

This is very suspicious....

*I know this Drop Tower WILL happen. I can not say anything into detail, because I promised them I would not share the info, but Screamscape is correct about this one...

And I do 100% believe they will add in a Drop Tower in the next few years, I just think it wont go on the side of Kingda Ka... I think it will go somewhere in Movietown/ Old Country 'a banded' area of the park (where The Chiller was located)

I believe a Drop Tower will happen, just not on Kinda Ka.... Imagine if it gets struck by lightning AGAIN?!?!?! It won't be working and we'll have another SF ride that will be a maintenance nightmare.... It will be nice if they get a drop tower, just not on the sides of Kinda Ka... It also looks impossible if they were put on Kinda Ka's sides....

The only way I could see them attaching a drop tower to Kingda' Ka is if they added another area to the park or expanded Golden Kingdom to run between Rolling Thunder and the ride all the way down to the top-hat. From Ka's entrance to the top-hat, it's a good 0.1 mile and RT's turnaround is almost exactly next to the top-hat.
I can't see them adding just a straight path all the way down there with nothing on it to get to this if it does get built.

Ccron10, I was thinking the same. Adding in a pathway past kingda ka and its emterence passed its launched area to the top hat. I drew some photos off of google earth on how it will look like and ill post the later today!

I don't see this happening. Why would Six Flags build the record-breaking Lex Luther at Magic Mountain this year and then go and do something larger at Great Adventure next year - immediately breaking SFMM's record? Doesn't make sense to me.

I hope it happens it would be great. And if it does just say sorry sfmm:p

Park News - (2/29/12) FlyinPhil is back with an all set of aerial photos of Six Flags Great Adventure this week. In other news, Six Flags Great Adventure has been sending out a survey about possible new attractions under consideration this week, and wouldn’t you know it, but one of the ideas pitched is “Worlds tallest drop tower”, a 400+ foot free fall experience. They don’t mention that it will be attached to the Kingda Ka tower, but it sure fits the bill. Anothr interesting idea pitched in the survey include an Animal Safari excursion tour that leave from the theme park and take you on a guided off-road tour into the wilderness. They also talk about “Bumper Kart Racing”, a “3D Interactive Space Adventure Coaster”, “World’s Biggest Interactive Fun House” and “Hyper Fast Steel Coaster”. The later idea mentions a 70mph coaster experience that will rip through a track over a mile long, going from Golden Kingdom through Plaza Del Carnaval and over to Frontier Adventures and back again.

Yes, I saw this on Screamscape. I also got that survey email and all of that is mentioned is correct... The survey I received also said that the "Hyper Steel Coaster" would 'loop' and have 'red track'... Maybe it will be a Hyper B&M Wing Rider Coaster ??? Hmmmmm.....

Also, I went to Google Earth on my iPad and took how Golden Kingdom looks now:



And I drew in a line what a projected path will look like, extending past the Kingda Ka entrance and que line. It will lead perfect to the 'Drop Tower':



There is a lot and good space to expand. Then Kingda Ka can have a viewing area of the launch like Top Thrill Dragstar at Cedar Point has. Then they can also add in new rides, and maybe have a station for the "Hyper Fast Steel Coaster"...

I also think they will add in that Safari expedition. This new path leads straight to a great place to have this stationed up, and leads straight into the Safari...

"Hyper Fast Steel Coaster" made me chuckle and scratch my head at the same time. What could that be? LOL.

I really think it will be the first Hyper Wing Rider Coaster. It coensides with the other wing Rider Rumor.

Also if it was not if they do add it, why would they add another hyper if they already have nitro and el toro ???

It's Six Flags! Just Joking, but this is n't the only SF theme park that does this, I mean look at SFMM, coasters with inversions after coaster with inversions...

Getting back to "Giga Drop" I think it's better if SFGA built a Stand Alone Drop Tower ride, it would be better and benefit the park by not building it on KK's sides (If it actually were to happen)
