I'm disappointed it's going too. It was always a fun ride to take when I needed a break. Shame they couldn't find a way to keep it functioning.

Re: Cedar Point 2012 Summer Season Discussion Thread
A little something was posted over at Theme Park Review (scroll to the bottom) yesterday:
I'm glad they will fix the lights on the Ferris Wheel, when I went last year it looked so.. Blegh...
Cedar Point's General manager, John Hildebrandt, is now on Twitter and he will be tweeting about updates and news for the park in the upcoming season. He has two tweets so far...
"Lots of sunshine on the midway today. Removing old lights on the Giant Wheel, getting ready to ignite the night in 2012!"
"Walk the midway with the GM of the world's greatest amusement park: Cedar Point. Looking for a new home for Terror Island."
Looks like the cries for a renovated Giant Wheel have been answered and will be incorporated in their new night time show, "Luminosity!". It also appears Cedar point wants to keep Terror Island and move it else where..

Read this on TPR over the weekend:
*Nothing confirmed yet*, but in an off-season tour, it was announced that Millennium Force, Power Tower, and Giant Wheel will be getting lighting makeovers. Quote: "When you picture the new lights on these rides, think of Windseeker. That's what we're going for."

Re: Cedar Point 2012 Summer Season Discussion Thread
That would look VERY pretty I assume, with LED's. Hersheypark added LED's on their Ferris Wheel this past year and they look AMAZING. But, only bad thing is, they couldn't get them lit towards the end of the season(end of October) I know other places had issues with LED's before too, so maybe LED's aren't ready to be used outdoors for long periods of time? Or they need to get developed better so they can be outside for long periods of time.
Re: Cedar Point 2012 Summer Season Discussion Thread
Really? Don't they make LED Christmas lights? I'm really excited to see what CP has planned.

Re: Cedar Point 2012 Summer Season Discussion Thread
I tested 3 strands of LED X-Mas lights, I left them outside all year, they stopped working. But the strands that were only out for 2 months stayed lit. What I think is LED's can't be outside for long periods of time. So, obvious in an amusement park setting LED's would not suffice. Unless they make some kind of industrial LED or special for long-use outdoors.
Re: Cedar Point 2012 Summer Season Discussion Thread
They really stopped working? I guess we now have another reason to keep our eyes on Windseeker and how their LED's work throughout the year. Replacing them multiple times/year would certainly be costly.

WOW- Very cool. Hmm.. I wonder what the name could be..
Re: Cedar Point 2012 Summer Season Discussion Thread
I agree this looks like an amazing addition and can't wait to try it. Regarding a name, it's obviously a racer - so how about "Soak Racer"

I would've like "Aqua Racer" to have won, the name sounds better for such an attraction.

GREAT pics. Not sure how I feel about dinos on MF Island, but it sure should make MF more interesting. Blue Streak looks GREAT too, and it's such an under rated ride.
