They got the drum installed, the gear boxes built also. The motor is in a crate to the side. All for the cable lift.

I was wondering the same thing too- will they thread the return cable above the lower portions of comet, under comet, or within the lift structure? I'm sure there will be some kind of tensioning mechanism to keep the cable taut.

Re: Skyrush Official Discussion Thread
I don't think it can go under Comet, because the creek is there. Seeing the site many times in person, I do not believe there is a return shoot. Intamin must of had to design a new kind of cable lift system. We'll find out soon enough though.
Re: Skyrush Official Discussion Thread
I saw that footer for the Comet bridge over the creek. They would have to cut a conduit through it to put a cable under Comet and over the queue line. I don't see that happening.

Re: Skyrush Official Discussion Thread
I saw it for the first time yesterday in person. The photos are great but they really don't show the true size of this thing. I think they were on top of the turnaround after SDL's loop painting it. I hope they are going to cut a few trees down b/c they are on the track of skyrush. I never knew how wide the track really was.

^ omg I know I was there yesterday too and it looked massive in person. I mean I thought they looked big in person.... But when u stand there by the side of the road right under the first drop u only have one word...... Wow. Also the construction site looked deserted yesterday. I think it was cause it was so windy. Was gonna get some pics but they were not working.

Yeah that's all we need, less trees in Comet Hollow!
Re: Skyrush Official Discussion Thread
No I mean in the creek area there are a few small limbs from trees that are touching the track

There is a return cable. If you look at the pictures (especially the ones from 2/21) of the station where the lift hill structure is visible, you can see the white pulley on the underside for the return cable. The towing sled will begin further up from this pulley, and extend into the station so that the train can latch onto the sled. As the sled goes over the top, it will pull away from the track and continue inside the lift structure. Depending on where the train will engage with the sled, the sled must be able to continue on over the top so that the entire train can clear the top of the lift.

Maybe they'll repaint Looper after all, even if it's just to make it blue again.

when you say sooperdooperlooper has been painted, do you mean its a different color or just a refurbished color?

Re: Skyrush Official Discussion Thread
There has been talk of Looper receiving new paint, along with the new trains, magnetic brakes and lift chain. I know some of that talk was about it being originated back to it's tan and orange scheme but now it may just be repainted blue again.

A refurbished color I could see where it changed from a faded blue to a fresher dark blue

Hersheypark is really cleaning up this year then, refurbrishing Sooperdooperlooper, Skyrush, modifying the Monorail...this makes me wonder, how much longer they are going to wait to refurbish Storm runner, expand the park, and expand the monorail system.

Well it's not like money is an issue. And actually the more they put in the more they will most likely bring in and then a year or so later they can put out even more.( In theory)

Re: Skyrush Official Discussion Thread
Money is not an issue, Hershey is rich and gets richer every year, even without putting anything new in. This year is going to be huge for them tho! they have the plans and hershey has already been laid out for the park's expansion, I can't waitr until it does, because lets face it...I love Hershey, but when they start building rides on top of other rides, its time to expand...I love the effect that gives riders but eventually it just wont look good anymore.

Oh, and as for SuperDuperLooper being painted, are they doing the entire ride? Or just sections. It really needs it, as does Storm Runner. Thanks!

I don't see why they wouldn't do the whole thing. It would look odd to see parts nice and repainted and then see right next to it and see dull faded paint

Re: Skyrush Official Discussion Thread
I think the train is PERFECT. Tons of space and freedom, the seats look more elevated than I expected and believe the rendering was very accurate with the passengers of the middle seats not being able to touch the floor. As Park Connoisseur said on fb, it's like B&M and Intamin had a baby, and what a beautiful baby it is !

I thought it said it would have yellow accents. Thought it would look good with all dark blue frame/ body with yellow seat padding but thin is good too.

I know. It's going to be an amazing ride. I'm you'll have to hop up, even on the inside seats. And your feat will be virtually dangling there, like a flooreless ride. Unless you're really tall, I guess. <3

Oh I agree - Brandon referred to this train as coaster perfection and couldn't agree more since I'd like to see them on more than a few other rides.
As an aside, Chris this is a family friendly site, so while I loved your pic and got a good chuckle from it, moving forward, it probably isn't appropriate (imho).

Since I'm not affiliated with the site, I thought you and I were on the same page Walt. Said differently, we want Grandparents AND Grandkids to visit the site together.
So now back to our regularly scheduled program - doesn't the Skyrush train ROCK!
I didn't believe the rendering would come to reality, but clearly it is identical from what I've seen so far, being roomy, free, and with only lap-bars! Why can't all coasters have trains like this? Now after seeing the trains, riding the inside seat is almost as good as the edge, and wouldn't complain which ever I got.
