What new coaster from a Coaster Company do you want to see SFMM get in 2013 - 2014?
Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
SFMM has a decent kiddie area for now. I think they know they are no match for places like Disneyland, and just keep a decent kids area. I think the biggest thing we need is flats. Like mentioned, ALL of our flats are from the 70s. We have a lot of the basic flats, we just need some that are intermediate (topspin, frisbee, etc)
I would also like SFMM to get a ferris wheel but idk where it would go...

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
The Ferris wheel will go in the area of the park that's suppose to have rides like a Ferris Wheel and that's Colossus County Fair, yet in Colossus County Fair there are only two rides Colossus and Scream... that's is one hail of a fair lol j/k
I believe Deja Vu old spot will remain land for a coaster in the future, there are tons of areas in SFMM they could place flats rides. They can just place the new flat rides in the same spot that the old ones were removed from since they are just sitting there empty.

Yeah they can fit flat's virtually anywhere. They could seriously take advantage of the DV lot and additional lot next to it.
Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
That sounds like a GREAT idea! It'd be perfect with themeing and like you said, it's only got two rides which are just roller coasters... I hope SFMM will one day expand this area as a lot of "carnival" themed flats can fit inside here!Robjob wrote:The Ferris wheel will go in the area of the park that's suppose to have rides like a Ferris Wheel and that's Colossus County Fair, yet in Colossus County Fair there are only two rides Colossus and Scream...

Colossus County Fair would definitely be a great place for a carnival theme. Also, Cyclone Bay I think should be converted into more of a "bay". The plus of having a carnival themed area is during Fright Fest it's a perfect scare zone

^ It could be something like CP's "CarnEVIL"

County Fair could be more of a "fair/carnival" like atmosphere while Cyclone Bay could have more of a Boardwalk theme to it. Just an idea.

It could be like Knott's Boardwalk themed area as well... If there's a Top Spin that could fit in there, name it The Cyclone, and whooptey doo you found the right name for an area whose name comes from a defunct roller coaster : tongue:

For the County Fair section, they could add rides like a Wisdom Tornado, or maybe a Tilt-A-Whirl. And yeah, a Huss Top Spin would be nice for Cyclone Bay. Name that Cyclone and add a water feature to it. Perhaps a dark ride of somekind could also go over there as well.

Six Flags has indeed trademarked the name Full Throttle as reported by Screamscape looks like that SFMM rumor is starting to have some truth to it.

Full Throttle is a great name for a fast coaster, and now with the trademark, it looks pretty official. Do we know if any additional construction has occurred at the site?

I agree that that name would fit perfectly for such a coaster. The trademarked name is just one step closer for it to become reality.

I'll first wait and see what side of the mountain the station is located on. If they are using the old log jammer station as the new station then yes I 100% agree Knotts.

^^^I was thinking that too. If they use that as a queue they will need to expand it. Also, the tunnel could be used for the initial blast with the station on that side? :O
Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
A little something was posted over at TPR that was interesting... your thoughts?
"Hello all people! Greetings from Cali! I have just arrived from my visit to Six Flags Magic Mountain in California. I have acquired some amazing news, and just have to share it with other people. While I was standing in line for Tatsu, a host for a ride came up to me asking me to apply for a survey for a $200 dollar gift card, and I did, after I asked him what they would do with the space where the Deja Vu ride used to be. (Link for Deja Vu POV): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2MF_OrKj7I (This ride has been demolished from last october) He answered me saying that they will make a new ride that is suspended, something like tatsu, only better. That made me excited, but there was another rollercoaster he revealed. He started telling me and my friend about a new ride that will be higher than the tallest rollercoaster in the world, the KingDa Ka (Kingda Ka Ride POV Link): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkWTfOzIqDM he said that it would be even better, in the fact that not only will it be taller, it will also have a different type of loop. In the Kingda Ka, you experience a small corkscrew, but nothing special, and he said in this one they will be doing something totally brand new. This has made me excited because I was planning on going to New Jersey Just to Ride the Kingda Ka rollercoaster. But know at home here in Valencia, California We will NOW have the tallest rollercoaster in the world. I am so excited!!! Share your feedback here on this topic!"

I am going to assume that is all inaccurate, Kingda Ka doesn't have a corkscrew...
Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
I know... listening to a host is like listening to the Dippin' Dots Guy.... But he really gave him a $200 Gift Card? Something smells fishy around here...

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
Chris, your story is a bit tough to follow tbh. A "host" approaches you to take a survey for a $200 gift card, which is fine. But you don't describe the survey and only talk about what he said or claimed, and then say he gave you the gift card? Do you have a pic of the card? What did you do to earn the card?
Chris, I think you know at this point we all have the utmost respect for you on this forum, but your story needs a little more background to be considered even close to accurate.

Trust me thom I don't fall for stuff that easy, and I didn't post this, like Brandon said, another user did... I'm not that dumb to fall for something like this... but I forgive you for being confused

Chris, what a great post. Thanks. But I think I'm more of an idiot for missing that than being confused. I've been mad busy and tired as a result, and apologize for getting it wrong.
So back on topic, Full Throttle is a great name, and on the off chance part of that survey is correct, could we be looking at a launched wing-rider?

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
I doubt it will be a wing-rider, since SFMM already has 2 Multidimensional coasters... My thoughts are an Intamin Blitz terrain coaster but it does seem kinda weird SFMM would contract Intamin 3 Years in a row.... My second guess is Premier since they're also known for launch coasters.... and the rumors are saying this coaster may have multiple launches but who knows? This is just my opinion...

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
I think we can summarize that it will be a launch coaster. SFMM is in extreme need of one. I have heard rumors of an Intamin, but I also have heard rumors of Premier. Premier has more of a rep for launching inverting coasters, which Six Flags seems to want more? I would like a Blit cuz I want a launch and some air time, but if they really want the world's largest loop it will probably be Premier
Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
The only kind of launched coaster they have is Superman. This new attraction would definitely make for a great addition to their impressive coaster line-up.

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
Agreed. Another note, we could see a gap in production after this, like after Scream in 2003, until 2010 there was only Tatsu
Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
2010? Tatsu opened in 2006, and rumor has it, Colossus may get the Rocky Mountain treatment so I doubt there will be a gap until at least 2014 / 15 through 2016 / 17...

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
I do agree a launch is most likely and they do have enough wing rider type rides. Since many manufacturers have multi-installation deals, Intamin does seem to make the most sense, and certainly would deliver the most extreme experience imho

After this, perhaps they'll focus on getting more flats into the park, similar with what's going on at GAdv this year. Didn't someone mention the lack of flats at Magic Mountain?

Yes, Flats is a SERIOUS problem SFMM is lacking with.... At least 5 new flats would be good, and perhaps a NEW Log Flume? I know there's a slight possibility it will happen but it would be nice...

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
Here's how I look at it: 2013 look filled with this new coaster, whatever it is.
I think the next years should go to adding flats. They have a few small spaces they could put new flats. So not like a new Adventure Alley, but like 3-4 new flats in various locations around the park.
I doubt anything water cuz they have Roaring Rapids, Jet Stream, and Tidal Wave.
And Chris I mean that from 2003-2010 the only addition was Tatsu in 2006. Apocalypse was 2010 I believe. Maybe 2009

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
From Screamscape:
2013 - Full Throttle - (4/24/12) Several SFMM locals have reported over at CoasterFusion about receiving an e-mail survey to get their opinion on the name “Full Throttle” for a future park attraction. One very very interesting question in the survey seems to give away a possible major spoiler for the ride experience. “Lets’s say that at some point in themiddle of the full throttle themed ride there is some kind of tunnel. During this ride you’d shoot into the tunnel at 500 miles per hour, stop short, wait a few moments and then fly out of the tunnel backwards the way you came in. What kind of experience would you want to have in the tunnel? Keep in mind that the ride is only going to be in the tunnel for several seconds before they shoot back out backwards. What should they experience?”
Wow… while the 500mph bit is complete over-hype… the basic concept here sounds very interesting experience may be planned for the former monorail tunnel inside the mountain itself.

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
I wonder if that entire question is designed to throw people off from the "real" ride experience and maybe get some "out of the box" thinking about what could be used within the tunnel. If you enter the tunnel at 500 mph, wouldn't you have to leave it at the same or similar speed? Most rides that go in both directions have low capacity, and that's the last think SFMM needs imho.

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
Tom I agree I hope this is just some wild nonsense SF came up with to throw people off of the real deal, I just can not see this being a shuttle coaster in any way shape or form. 500 mph stop then fly out backwards is just laughable.
galindoverhere I with you, I was already a little let down when the giant loop was added to the picture, but then thought well it could still have airtime with a loop. But now with this nonsense of a 500 mph shuttle type coaster I'm just like WTF!!!

I absolutely doubt that.... 500 MPH is over exaggerating and too powerful for the human body to withstand... But someone else I heard said something interesting, he said what if SFMM does what Disney did with Expedition Everest? Since this is rumored to be the U.S.'s longest coaster, I wonder how SFMM is going to work this out....

That was my point Chris that given the over exaggerated 500 MPH question, maybe they are thinking breaking the existing record? I immediately thought of Expedition Everest when I heard the backward part, and I just don't see it happening. This is SF and that sounds very complex to maintain.

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
I think Goliath had the record for a day or two, and I think the real problem was the manufacturer. For the life of me I don't understand why they choose them. Even though 50% of the GP won't ride looping coasters, I just don't understand Six Flags dominating their parks with loopers. Thankfully, SFMM frequently picks cutting edge coasters, so let's hope for a multi-launcher with tons of airtime. We can dream at this point.
