What new coaster from a Coaster Company do you want to see SFMM get in 2013 - 2014?
Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
Since I recently found out about the tunnel and where it goes, there's no limit to this coaster. The Log Jammer spot originally for the coaster is on one side of the mountain. This tunnel runs ALL THE WAY through the mountain to where Gold Rusher is. Now looking at the area, what they have been hinting seems confusing but possible. Just if they use the tunnel, I don't get how they would get back to the station...
Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
I agree the possibilities are endless, and can't wait for an announcement or more construction. Since they're starting now, the ride should be epic imho. I also saw this Six Flags Magic Mountain online survey results, which may provide some additional clues. Fast, steel, and unique are high on the list, with loops being pretty low.

I'm with ya if you meant Height record. They certainly have the space, funds, and population to do it. If there isn't a lift hill, then they might, but with Superman there, not sure a strata in the cards.

Knottsnetwork Just if they use the tunnel, I don't get how they would get back to the station...
I'm guessing the ride will be high enough or launched fast enough to hop over the mountain at least once, Maybe a Giga lifthill or Top hat/huge camel back will go up and over the mountain. Since the log jammer area and now the backside of the mountain is being cleared too, we are looking at something huge in the makings.
I too am hoping for a height record something around 320 feet (giga) would do especially since I can't see them going for the strata record.

I've thought that since it's a multilaunch, they will use the tunnel like they do in Maverick.

Wow thanks for sharing guys! Looks like whatever is coming will definitely be something large! Still the question is "what will it be"?
I LOVE the construction wall by the way! Disney could learn some lessons on how to spruce up construction walls like that.

I know right! Those prove the point further that Westcoaster was wrong. If Six Flags didn't care, why would they make those BEAUTIFUL signs?!

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
^^^Yeah it was on Screamscape!
I was frustrated INITIALLY when I read that rumor because I was like "wow GhostRider needs treatment if anything!"
But then I went down the page and heard Knott's is considering getting GhostRider new cars
Either way, imo Colossus isn't that bad and shouldn't waist the money. I am all for splitting the money towards Revolution trains getting lap bars, painting Scream, etc. Basically, some other rides need touch ups first.
I'm still kind of frustrated, unless the new GhostRider cars can indeed fix the bumpiness

So, a few sources tell me the announcement may be announced the week of 4th of July! Nothing's confirmed yet, but July is the month it may be announced... We'll finally see what's coming to the Mountain next year and what this record breaking coaster will be! Who's excited?!?!

Oh got it that's awesome. I post to Amusement Park Authority, that's the website I started my coaster enthusiasm on. This and APA are the only forums I actually contribute too, I just read others occasionally.

Okay! So first off my page doesn't have the usual ALT background...

I like the current look but I think the old look made photos stand out. This does look nice. I noticed that the ATL logo/ banner was not at the top of the page. Hopefully this white background doesn't use a lot more battery on my iPod

It's back!
Did anyone else see the new Screamscape post regarding Colossus? It looks like if they do anything to Colossus it's getting the Texas Giant treatment.

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
So, Colossus transformation may be a possibility, just as Knott'sNetwork said, only problem SF is having is if they can re-announce Colossus as a new coaster, but it worked with X2 and The NTAG, so it may work with Colossus....
Imagine Colossus racing again?! What a beauty that would be! Large over-banked turns, squirrel dives, and a (hopefully) 65* - 75* foot drop? I hope this becomes a possibility so that one of the greatest coasters once built and known, can become a landmark for coasters once again...

^^^^Wow, I've never thought about it that way. High speed races would be extremely intense.
Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
A rocky mountain racer would be very sweet and certainly re-invent Colossus to it's former glory.

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
So I took a trip to the mountain today. Sorry no pictures.
The Log Jammer is MUCH big than I expected, so I think they could truly fit anything.
As for Colossus, it's pretty bumpy, but I think a new paint job would be better. I just don't think it needs this complete make over

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
Thanks for the update Knotts. Did you notice any additional progress with the construction? I'm sure at this point it's mostly land clearing, but maybe some survey markers were around? Regarding Colossus, back in the day it was a smooth forceful ride, and only a shadow of it's former self today. Paint would only be an esthetic fix imho.

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
About Lex construction, there was no actual CONSTRUCTION, but the ground was very leveled near it and looked very nice. Another building by LLDOD was also closed and gated off.
Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
And regarding Colossus, the coaster is pretty bumpy, but I still don't think it's unrideable. Not to mention it's one of SFMM's only family coaster.
Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
Hopefully on your next visit Knotts, you can get some pictures. Kinda psyched for Lex.
Regarding Colossus, I never really considered it a family coaster, but I guess it is now given the Mountain's latest additions. It's still much rougher today than in the past, and I don't think the rocky mountain treatment would deminish its "family" appeal.

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
Yeah but Colossus is a perfect first roller coaster. I guess if were talking Rocky mountain treatment then it's okay, didn't the one important guy (excuse me for not knowing who exactly) say that he liked what they did to the Texas Giant? Rocky Mountain would be ok I guess but I don't think I would like Texas Giant treatment
Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
Six Flags Magic Mountain is expected to add a terrain-hugging launched roller coaster in 2013 featuring the world's tallest loop, according to an employee who wasn't authorized to speak on behalf of the amusement park.
A Magic Mountain mechanic inadvertently revealed closely guarded facts about the record-setting attraction while casually talking with a group of coaster enthusiasts during the recent West Coast Bash event at the Valencia amusement park. Details of the conversation quickly appeared on the Theme Park Review website and rapidly spread through the online coaster community.
The new multi-launch coaster will be called Full Throttle, according to the official Six Flags Facebook page.
Full Throttle's record-setting vertical loop is expected to top the Superman: Krypton coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, which holds the current title of world's tallest loop at 145 feet. Magic Mountain's own Viper, with a 144-foot-tall loop, is a close second, according to Roller Coaster Database.
Magic Mountain recently shuttered the 1971 Log Jammer water flume to make way for the 2013 coaster. The wooded six-acre parcel in the center of the park includes a sizable man-made lake that may play a role in the new attraction. Full Throttle may also make use of the old monorail tunnel that cuts through the hillside.
Magic Mountain officials declined to comment on the specifics of the mechanic's revelations, saying only that the park does not respond to rumors or speculation. An official announcement on the new 2013 attraction will be made in late summer.
Full Throttle would become Magic Mountain's 18th coaster, moving the California park ahead of Ohio's Cedar Point for the title of "Roller Coaster Capital of the World."

Interesting. Doesn't get me all that excited to be honest at this point, but will wait until the announcement. If it does have the worlds tallest loop, it will have to be a fast ride (nice), but tallest loop isn't one of those stats I personally get all worked up over.

I hope for a record Intamin 12 Inversion Coaster in Giga Size.
A Giga 12 Inversion Coaster over a 300ft high drop including the highest loop and would probably the largest coaster in the US.
Or break a new high record a 500ft 12 Inversion - Blitz Coaster
CRAZY

Re: 2013 - 2014, What's in store?
Well, for what it's worth, here's my perspective. It's all a rouse.
Every person who actually knows what the ride is has signed a confidentiality agreement. So either this person willingly just got fired, or he was a plant for the park to generate PR.
This is far more believable than having test dummies come back missing limbs for example.
Sure, it could be true, just like listening to the dip n dots guy.

I don't know about seeing it on the TPR website, but I have heard of that same story from someone who went to WCB
But once again, I heard that some mechanics say they were making an Intamin Giga.....
The article also points to a seemingly nonexistent fb post about "Full Throttle"
SO is this some kind of joke or the worst researched news article ever?

Well I saw the LA times post minutes after it was posted and I did go to the Six Flags Facebook and saw not one post about it nor anyone talking about.
I also agree with thom25 that all that do know about the project has signed an NDA and if they did really just spill the beans they just lost their job and probably facing some type of legal action.
I do like the name Full Throttle just not if it's using Log Jammers old area, then it doesn't fit at all with the surrounding theme going on in that area.
